Vintage Inspired Treasures

I'm not a big fan of jewelry(as much as i'd like to be), but I am a big fan of pretty little vintage inspired goodies!

I came across this website: MARQUIS & CAMUS, and they've got the most beautifully made jewelry, i have ever laid eyes on. The details alone are extremely intricate, and they're mostly all handmade! They drive inspiration into six different categories: Victorian Romance, Red Carpet, Victorian Rebel, Modern Rebel, Lt. Camus, and Joker.

                                                              VICTORIAN REBEL:

RED CARPET:

                                                                          JOKER:
Lt. Camus:

MODERN REBEL:

VICTORIAN ROMANCE:

Here's a little blurb from their "About Us" section:

Established in the fall of 2006 in New York City, Marquis & Camus revisits the past creating a collection that offers a truly unique look into the future of remixed couture. The vintage pieces are timeless, characterized by their excellence, maturity and enduring appeal, accompanied by only the finest modern materials making them one of a kind.

The Marquis & Camus collection resurfaces antiquated treasures of the past and marries their exquisiteness with the charms of handmade fabric flowers; hand died silk bias ribbon, Swarovski crystals, bows, lace, and the boldness of chains and genuine leather. Each piece features authentic vintage items, such as bow ties, pocket watches, chandelier crystals, suspenders, cameos, lockets, watch movements, keys, charms, chains, buttons, pendants and pins, which are carefully handpicked from estate sales, auctions and flea markets. Sterling silver, brass, and silver-plated and gold-filled materials enhance the classic appeal of each piece. The Marquis & Camus products are sophisticated and complicated, and handled by skilled bench workers in New York.

The unfortunate part, is that they are extremely expensive, charging maybe a little too much for physical work. BUT!!! it's fairly easy to copy. It's simple. Go out and buy some regular jewelry(forever 21 etc.) and go to Michael's to buy some different types of fabric(lace, satin etc.) and if you can sew, learn how to sew flowers! You can also buy some little pearls or additional accessories to combine them all into one masterpiece!

have a goood one, xtine :)

Blast from the Past

By Kelly Lin
A few days ago, while catching up with a few of my favorite blogs, I came across my friend, Prudence's fashion blog. (http://dearprudencefashion.blogspot.com/) And I've got to tell you, its simply amazing how much she makes you feel like her personal best friend. But aside from promoting her blog, I mean to direct all the readers to her recent post about Target's Designer Reissues!  I have seen the ad a few times in Teen Vogue, but her post could not have pumped me up more! The price of each item made by high end designers like Zac Posen, Richard Chai, and others are as affordable as Forever 21. To check out the 34 dresses reissued on March 13th: http://news.instyle.com/2011/02/23/target-designer-collaboration-dresses/
And if Designer Reissues have already caught your attention, check out Prudence's blog for different styling ideas in a modern twist!
This soft pink dress is among my favorites! It seems like a dress that can be thrown on for any occassion- from a friend's birthday party to even prom! I like how versatile this dress- worn under a polka dot cardigan and gladiators or paired with suede nude pumps, this dress is a hit!

Inspiring Words from Karl Lagerfeld

This video was found by our photo guru, Eugene Change! It's an interview with Chanel's creative director Karl Lagerfeld. He speaks about the business side of fashion and how modern communication is affecting the fashion world. Lagerfeld also mentions some secrets to his success. Take a look below!

A Worthy Investment

By Kelly Lin
Paper Crown. While this brand doesnt sound very familiar yet, I can forsee that it will be the next trending topic. This amazing new brand is created by Lauren Conrad, my biggest role model. The clothing in this line ranges from classic chic to everyday dress up; tailored pants, oversized blazers, chiffon maxis, moto leather, trendy shorts, etc etc. I can go on and on about why I would get everything in this line, but there is one con: the price. The price is one thing that may turn a teen's focus, but I believe that it may just be worth the investment. Think about it: each piece is made with quality materials, with perfection, and are definitely pieces one will still be sportin' three years from now. Anything from this line I love! Any outfit on this list is already on my wishlist! But if I had to pick, the oversized button up, leather shorts, and camelish colored oversized blazer must be one of the cutest looks created!

take a look yourself& tell me your favorite pieces! (: <3

Favorites from the Spring 2011 Runway

By Yilin Chen
Spring is just around the corner! Despite the frigid and rainy weather we've been having lately, I can't help thinking about shedding the heavy winter coat and throwing on a nice cardigan instead. Looking back at Spring fashion week, I found two of my favorite things that I want to share.

One of my favorite shows from S2011 was Louis Vuitton's. Big bright colors matched with black, fringed and metallic details, and of course the sheer lace that had the signature LV monogram. And not to mention, I loved the oriental themed suits and and the slitted skirts. This show was fun, playful, and inspirational.

Secondly, I am obsessed with the color orange for next season! Shades of red-orange and coral popped up all over the runways, whether it was a bold orange eyeliner from Derek Lam or persimmon colored garments from Tory Burch, it's obvious that this is the new "it" color for Spring.
